Best places for a Tinder date in ZRH - my recommendations - Part 1

I am married, so I am not a Tinder user. So, what's the reason I am doing a blog post about this topic. Almost 100% of my single (male) friends are using Tinder. As I am quite familiar with the food & drink scene in Zurich, my friends often asked me for a recommendation. I normally advocate for some action in their dates - go ice skating in Winter, organize a pic-nic in Summer etc. - but coffee & co. remains a popular choice! Here my top three coffee shops and bars for a Tinder date in ZRH:

Coffee shops

I am quite a coffee aficionado - so I always screen for good coffee places.

1) miró manufactura de café

I like the unpretentious location and interior. You often find a place - even on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Tables are not too close to each other ensuring some privacy. Coffee is great, they actually roast the coffee in the back of the building. They also feature a nice selection of snacks - the banana bread is delicious. If you stay longer - try one of their coffee drinks - quite surprising and quite good!

2) Bros, Beans & Beats

Cool, sleek interior with tables (often 2-people, perfect!) on the left part of the shop and a lounge on the right part. In case of nice weather, you can sit outside. Quite popular on Saturdays and Sundays for brunch (what about a brunch date?). Then it's quite peak time till 2pm, afterwards it gets more quiet. They don't have an own roastery but source their specialty coffee from different suppliers! I was never disappointed by the coffee; great capuccinos!

3) 169 West

Small and cozy, tucked in a corner off Lochergut. They don't roast their own coffee but rely on Stoll as their supplier. Coffee is made with love. I like the relaxed atmosphere. I always try to grab the little sofa up on the little stage - it comes with a cute little table for your coffee and book/newspaper. If the date evolves, you can also stay longer as 169West is also a wine bar - focused on natural wine.

Bars

Apéro is the speciality of my wife - so I also know a few nice bars.

1) Bar am Wasser

The most centrally located recommendation - Bar am Wasser is off Bürkliplatz, right in the corner, opposite the Bauschänzli. Great choice if you wander around in the old town first. It's a classy bar with a big-city feeling! Interior is great - I like the colors and the heavy fauteuils. Drinks are awesome - but also not that cheap but worth the price (and hey, it's a date!)! It attracts a diverse but mostly "upper-class" crowd.

2) Palette

Well suited if your date is from outside Zurich as it is very close to the central station of Zurich. Cool vibe with a very diverse crowd. Good selection of drinks and a nice little food menu (with a Middle East touch - they do a good hummus/pita appetizer!). It's quite big, so chance is high that you will find a suitable table at any point of time.

3) Gamper Bar

While Bar am Wasser and Palette feature a modern interior design - cleary designed by an interior architect - Gamper Bar is very down to earth with a cozy but unpretentious interior. They feature a great wine including some lesser known regions. Service is very friendly and personal. They also have a snack menu - cheese, charcuterie and some more sophisticated dishes (meatballs, grilled aubergine), mostly to share! You will enter Gamper Bar and then leave and wonder why it's already dark outside - time just flies by in Gamper. It's close to Bäckeranlage and only a short walk from miró café
